Billy Thompson Places Third in Local Dance Fundraiser

Supporting the Community One Dance at a Time

Lumegent CEO Billy Thompson and his dance partner, Madison Blea, placed third at Fallon’s 11th annual Dancing with the Stars on March 17. With Jurassic World as their theme, Billy and Madison captured the crowd at the Churchill County High School gym with their movie cosplay, inflatable dinosaurs, and dance routine aptly named the “Jurassic Charleston.” Their dance featured a series of impressive lifts and twirls, all stirred together with a hip-hop flavor. Moreover, the Lumegent team supported Billy by wearing company gear to the event as well as sporting “Billy heads” during his performance.

Destry Johnson of Defense Base Services, Inc., and his partner, Sharah Lynn Moulton, placed second with their dance rendition of Brave. The two represented the spirit of the Disney film with their bows, arrows, and Celtic mixdown. First place, as well as the People’s Choice Award, went to Brandon Bird of the Churchill County Juvenile Probation Department and his partner, Jennifer Marie Marshall. The crowd loved Brandon and Jennifer’s take on Hamilton: An American Musical, replete with Revolution-era wigs, high heels, and ruffled shirts.

Fallon Swing Dance Boosters host Dancing with the Stars every year as a fundraiser for Fallon’s competition dance teams. Local business leaders and other “celebrities” in the community volunteer to dance with high school competition team members to provide the show’s entertainment. Although there are other fundraising events, Dancing with the Stars serves as the largest fundraiser for the teams and pays for travel to the Gem State Classic dance competition in Idaho.

This year’s event was catered by local restaurant Susie’s BBQ. Additionally, CCHS students showed their support by serving dinner and dessert to VIP guests before the show.

With 11 years under its belt, Fallon Dancing with the Stars continues to grow and has become a staple event within the community. Next year’s show is sure to pack even more glamor and excitement.
