Top CEO of the Year for 2020

Billy Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of Lumegent, was recently selected as Top CEO of the Year for 2020 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding achievement in his position demonstrating leadership, dedication, and philanthropy.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities. All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With nearly two decades of professional experience in Sales, Marketing and as a thriving Entrepreneur, Mr. Thompson has certainly proven himself as an outstanding professional and expert in the field. As a leader drive by dynamic results, Thompson has demonstrated success not only as CEO for Lumegent, but in every position he has held. His impressive repertoire of prior roles includes: Director of Marketing and Sales for Highland Village, Regional Director of Sales for Holiday Retirement, and Managing Partner of Janess Print & Marketing.

Thompson created Lumegent to redevelop physical marketing in a digital age as well as to utilize these skills to give back to the community. Lumegent set out to help businesses to stand out regardless of size. Every year, Thompson selects at least one small business to rebrand and develop on a pro bono level. “It can be challenging in today’s age to be a small business and compete with the marketing budget of a national organization. We strive to strategically develop branding and marketing for small business and teach them how compete on a higher level,” says Thompson.

Thompson has set out to change the standards of being a CEO in business and prides his position based on how much he is able to do for others. Developing the company culture into a modern, open-based model, Lumegent operates freely without the traditional confinements of a “typical” corporate structure. “We’re founded on the core concepts of family and connection, developing long lasting and supporting relationships with everyone involved. We support people, ideas, diversity, and opportunity. We take pride in what we provide our clients and our community while allowing our clients and community to be part of our family. Any person, idea or concept focused to positively change the world is who we work with, that is all it takes to be Lumegent.”

After losing his father at age 16, building his career became a necessity for Thompson, resulting in a unique and appreciative approach in his personal and professional career. Thompson never allowed his setbacks to dictate his future. When asking how he was able to overcome these challenges, he described, “I’ve taken the issues I’ve faced in life and used them as motivation to achieve my goals while also using these struggles to share and teach others to overcome their own challenges in life.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Thompson has been active in his community and recognized for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. For 2020 he is being considered for a feature article in TIP (Top Industry Professionals Magazine) and for the Business Innovator of the Year Award by IAOTP. Also, for 2020 he was selected as “Top CEO of the Year” by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) and will be honored at IAOTP’s Annual Awards Gala being held at the Plaza Hotel in NYC.

Aside from his successful and busy career as an entrepreneur, Mr. Thompson remains focused without sacrificing his true passions: family, maintaining his affiliations in charity work, sponsorships, and mentoring. Beyond the constant volunteer work provided by Lumegent, Thompson has also donated and volunteered with many local youth programs and non-profit organizations. Most recently, he has supported veteran-focused charity foundations, professional career development mentoring, sponsorship and image training of athletes, performers and many others looking to reach their dreams and positively change the world.

Mr. Thompson earned his Associates Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and his Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated that “Choosing Mr. Thompson for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make. He is a motivated mover and shaker who has been a successful entrepreneur and is brilliant at what he does. Billy’s lists of accomplishments are impressive, he inspires and motivates other professionals, and he was exactly what we were looking for. We know we will be seeing more outstanding things from this man and hope to spend time with him at the gala and other future IAOTP events.”

Looking back, Billy attributes his success to his perseverance, and support he receives from his family. He says he has been blessed with his beautiful wife Jillian who is his “why”, and their beautiful daughter, Keiren. Thompson also says that his sister and mum have been very supportive of him. When he is not working, Thompson enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. For the future he would like to continue to thrive as an entrepreneur and hopes to make a difference in people’s lives any way that he can.
